LOVE DARE #35

Day 35: Love is Accountable

FIND A MARRIAGE MENTOR - SOMEONE WHO IS A STRONG CHRISTIAN AND WHO WILL BE HONEST AND LOVING WITH YOU. IF YOU FEEL THAT COUNSELING IS NEEDED, THEN TAKE THE FIRST STEP TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. DURING THIS PROCESS, ASK GOD TO DIRECT YOUR DECISIONS AND DISCERNMENT.

Last spring, a perfectly shaped Bradford Pear tree adorned our front yard with beautiful white blossoms. Today stands merely a stump - the result of an ice storm. Bradford Pears are fragile - unlike strong, enduring Sequoia trees. The secret to the enduring strength of the mighty Sequoia tree lies beneath the surface. Sequoias reach out and interlock their roots - reinforcing and empowering one another to survive the fiercest of storms.

A strong healthy marriage exhibits this same Sequoia secret. A couple who faces storms alone will more likely fall apart. A couple who interlocks with other strong Christian couples can survive the fiercest of storms. Wise people seek godly advice and gladly receive it. Fools never ask for it - or ignore it when it's given. "Branch" out - seek godly advice, experienced mentors, and healthy friendships today.

VERSE FOR TODAY'S DARE: "Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed" (Proverbs 15:22).
THOUGHT FOR TODAY'S DARE: Is there a fierce storm brewing in your marriage? Don’t be “stumped.” Pursue godly counsel as quickly as possible. Reach out, interlock - grow strong and blossom.

Blessings for a "Sequoia" day,
Dale and Susan Crook
